About Kimberly

Kimberly R. Morgan is an award-winning executive producer, screenwriter, and internationally bestselling author based in Pensacola, Florida. Her professional background also includes experience as a document control clerk for Kuukpik Corporation in Nuiqsut, Alaska, where she worked from 1999 to 2001.

Kimberly gained recognition for her novel Sins of the Midnight Sons, inspired by her experiences living in a remote Inupiat village above the Arctic Circle in Alaska. The book explores complex relationships, cultural differences, and the challenges surrounding life in Alaska's North Slope oil fields. She later published The Capo's Prayer, a mafia-themed novel about an Italian crime boss who falls in love with an American Southern author. The book achieved international bestseller status, reaching the number-one position in Amazon's Italian dramas and plays category for six weeks. Its success inspired a trilogy that Kimberly is developing for screen adaptation. She is also a six-time award-winning executive producer recognized for her work on the short films The First Step and The Raiven Destiny.

As a self-employed creative professional, Kimberly continues to develop original stories and screenplays, including Sins of the Midnight Sons, a psychological thriller inspired by her true experiences, and adaptations of The Capo's Prayer trilogy. Ten minutes with Kimberly

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to perseverance, creativity, and staying true to my vision as a storyteller. My life experiences, including living in a remote Alaskan village and overcoming personal loss, have shaped my writing and deepened my understanding of the human heart. I believe in maintaining ownership of my creative work, embracing challenges as opportunities, and connecting with readers through authentic, emotionally compelling stories. Most importantly, I strive to create meaningful narratives that explore life's struggles while offering hope, love, and the possibility of redemption.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received came from my late husband, Stephen, who encouraged me to believe in my writing and stay true to my creative vision. He reminded me that I didn’t need to be published to validate my talent and that it was okay to take breaks when I needed them. Through his support, I learned to trust myself, protect my creative independence, and view setbacks as opportunities to grow. His belief in me continues to inspire my work and reminds me of the importance of encouraging others to recognize their own potential.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the writing industry is to believe in themselves and start pursuing their dreams without waiting for the perfect moment. Writing requires patience, persistence, originality, and the courage to stay true to your creative vision. Don't let fear of criticism or rejection stop you from sharing your work. Learn from others, but trust your own instincts and develop a voice that is uniquely yours. Most importantly, keep going, embrace new beginnings, and remember that it is never too late to pursue something meaningful to you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in my field is expanding my storytelling from books into screenwriting and film production, allowing my stories to reach broader audiences. At the same time, balancing multiple creative projects requires patience, focus, and perseverance, especially in an industry where success is not always predictable. My experience has taught me to embrace challenges, maintain my creative independence, and turn setbacks into new opportunities. Ultimately, I want to create meaningful stories that connect with readers, inspire hope, and remind people that difficult beginnings do not have to determine how their stories end.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are faith, honesty, authenticity, and perseverance. My faith in God has helped me navigate life's most difficult challenges, including the loss of my husband, and taught me that it is possible to find peace and begin again. I believe in staying true to myself, trusting my instincts, and embracing opportunities for growth. Through my writing, I strive to show that even in difficult circumstances, people have the capacity to change and find redemption. I also value encouraging others, especially women facing grief and uncertainty, by reminding them that healing takes time and that it is never too late to rediscover themselves and move forward with hope.
