Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kimberly
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success primarily to my mother, whose resilience and strength deeply shaped me while growing up with her frequent hospitalizations, which forced me to mature quickly and learn perseverance early on. Before she passed, her final words to me were, “I want you to do this not without a fight,” a message that continues to guide me and became the foundation’s motto, “Not Without a Fight.” Through both her example and my own experiences, I’ve learned that I am stronger than I once believed and capable of pushing through any challenge.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is: be you, for you. Take time to discover your own passions, and if you’re unsure, try different things without limiting yourself to what others expect you to be or do. I never imagined I would be doing a podcast or working in this space, but I’ve learned to embrace opportunities as they come. I believe I was placed here to be a source of inspiration and guidance for the next generation. As I often remind my kids, you can’t fail by trying—the only true failure is never trying at all.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I’m focused on is bridging the gap between patients and physicians. I see a real need for stronger connection and communication between the two, and through my podcast, I work to create a space that fosters understanding, education, and community support. I also believe it’s important for patients to develop patience and perspective in their healthcare journey, while encouraging providers to lead with empathy and compassion. When both sides feel heard and understood, it strengthens relationships, improves communication, and ultimately leads to more effective patient care.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important value in my work and personal life is relationships with others. I prioritize respecting myself and my own boundaries, especially when it comes to my health and well-being. I believe in taking care of myself first so I can be fully present and intentional when supporting others. Once my cup is filled, I’m able to pour into others in a meaningful and sustainable way.
