Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kimberly
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of experience and a constant focus on optimization. Over the course of my career in logistics and supply chain, I’ve developed a strong ability to identify inefficiencies and implement practical, scalable solutions. Whether that’s in freight audit, contract management, or EDI integrations. I’m very metrics driven, so I rely on clear KPIs to guide decisions and ensure we’re delivering measurable value, whether that’s managing large spend or supporting high volume account environments.
Equally important to me is how I show up every day. I take pride in being consistent, dependable, and solutions oriented, especially when challenges arise. I don’t give up easily. I lean into problems and work through them.
On a personal level, a big driver for me was my parents hard work and dedication. I also wanted to be a role model for my kids and for them to see what strong work ethic, perseverance, and faith look like in action. That pushes me to stay committed, keep improving, and approach both work and life with integrity and resilience. I think that mindset has played a big role in the success I’ve been able to achieve.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
"Own the process, not just the outcome.”
In logistics, results are only as strong as the systems and relationships behind them. Taking ownership of the full lifecycle, from carrier onboarding to invoicing and reporting, creates the opportunity to identify inefficiencies, strengthen cross-functional alignment, and deliver long-term improvements. That mindset has guided me in leading teams, improving integration processes, and driving measurable performance gains. More importantly, it has helped me build trust across teams and develop stronger, more transparent ways of working.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
For young women considering a career in logistics and supply chain, my advice is both practical and encouraging. Don’t feel afraid to ask questions. This industry is always revolving but also repetitious. Once you have the fundamentals down you will be invaluable, opening many doors to new ideas with all the opportunities with the way the world of travel is changing. It’s always good to have senior leadership as mentor or mentor throughout your career for professional development and more exposure. One of my mentors, Erin Breen had me read this book “Fall in Love with the Problem, Not the Solution” and that was a great way to open your mind to failures knowing every business will not always start off with success.
· Use your voice – Don’t wait for the “perfect moment” to contribute. Your perspective matters early on.
· Build operational knowledge – Understanding the details—from data flows to carrier behavior—will set you apart and build credibility.
· Seek mentorship and sponsorship – Strong relationships can accelerate both learning and opportunity.
· Stay adaptable – This industry is evolving rapidly with advancements in automation, EDI, and analytics. Those who embrace change will lead it.
· Recognize your leadership potential – Logistics has traditionally been male-dominated, but the need for collaborative, solutions-driven leadership has never been greater.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The logistics and transportation space is undergoing a major transformation. While this brings challenges, it also creates meaningful opportunities for those ready to lead.
Challenges we’re facing include:
· Rising costs in the supply chain.
· The need to have processes/controls in place to best mitigate the rising costs
· Increasing complexity in systems and carrier integrations
· The demand for real-time, accurate data across platforms
· Pressure to reduce manual processes while maintaining accuracy
· Balancing efficiency with growing operational demands
But the opportunities are just as significant:
· Automation and EDI advancements are reshaping how work gets done
· Data is enabling smarter, more strategic decision-making
· Cross-functional collaboration is unlocking new levels of efficiency
· Experienced professionals are uniquely positioned to guide change
Those who can combine industry knowledge with a forward-thinking mindset will play a key role in shaping what comes next.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Throughout my career, a core set of values has guided both my professional path and personal growth:
· Accountability – Taking ownership and following through on commitments
· Continuous improvement – Always looking for ways to do better and operate smarter
· Transparency – Communicating openly to build trust and alignment
· Team development – Supporting others and fostering a culture of growth
· Integrity – Maintaining honesty and accuracy in every decision
These values have helped me lead high-performing teams, improve operational efficiencies, and build strong partnerships across organizations. I believe this carried over into my personal life while raising 2 kids being a single mom. I also put myself through college while working full time. There were countless hours we all sat at the table doing homework together. Having those strong skills throughout my life and theirs is what I think is helping them now in their career paths.
