Kimberly Wesley is a Laboratory Supervisor within the Methodist Health System, where she currently oversees night shift laboratory operations at a Level 2 trauma center in the Dallas, Texas area. With over a decade of experience in medical laboratory science, she is responsible for ensuring that her team performs testing accurately and efficiently, that critical call lists are acknowledged promptly, and that turnaround times consistently meet quality benchmarks. When equipment malfunctions or external disruptions arise, Kimberly draws on her technical expertise to troubleshoot issues quickly, minimizing any impact on patient care.

Kimberly's academic foundation began with a bachelor's degree in Biology from Midwestern State University, which she pursued between 2002 and 2007. She went on to complete her formal training in Medical Laboratory Science at Tarleton State University, graduating in 2013, and later expanded her expertise further by earning a Master's Degree in Human Biology from Liberty University. 01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage anyone entering this field to first make sure it is truly where their passion lies. Beyond that, I believe in learning from experienced mentors, maintaining integrity in everything you do, and never being afraid to ask questions along the way.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Some of the biggest challenges I face involve equipment failures and other disruptions, which require quick troubleshooting to ensure we continue delivering quality care and accurate results to our patients without delay.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Providing quality care, fostering teamwork, and approaching problems with strong problem-solving skills are the values I hold most important, both in my professional role and in how I try to support others in my personal life.
