About Kiranmayee
Kiranmayee Mullapudi serves as a paralegal at the Washington State Attorney General's Office and works as a diversity coordinator for her organization. She brings 15 years of experience in the legal industry, having moved to the United States in 2015 after working in India. Kiranmayee earned her bachelor's degree in 2006 and recently completed her LLM at the University of Washington in 2024. She is currently preparing for the bar exam. Outside her role, she helps members of the immigrant community understand U.S. government systems and state versus federal aid options. She previously served on the North Shore School District equity committee, where she advocated for greater representation in education to build trust and belonging among immigrant families. Kiranmayee also educates others about preeclampsia following her daughter's delivery. In 2024, she received the Integrity Award from her office and the state of Washington. She attributes her success to compartmentalizing challenges such as immigration processes and achieving goals one step at a time, including the opportunity provided by a manager at Sound Transit who gave her a chance despite her lack of U.S. work experience. Kiranmayee values integrity and truthfulness in both her professional and personal life.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Compartmentalizing challenges like immigration and green card processes, achieving one goal after another, and receiving a chance from a manager at Sound Transit despite lack of US experience.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Believe in integrity, work towards it professionally, be truthful, and be smart about work rather than just billing hours.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be independent but aware of your circumstances, work towards your goals, recognize that failure is part of the process but winning matters at the end.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Biggest challenge is preparing for the bar exam in my 40s while competing with younger graduates in terms of concentration and study demands. Biggest opportunity was getting a chance to work despite lack of US experience, which built confidence.
