About Kirsten

Kirsten Nolan serves as an Academic Advisor Transfer Success Specialist and professor at LSUS. She oversees all transfer students on campus, developing initiatives to build belonging and improve retention rates. Nolan also teaches freshman seminar classes. She began her journey at the university 8 years ago on a soccer scholarship, working initially as a student tutor and front desk staff in the Student Success Center. After earning her Bachelor's in Psychology magna cum laude, she served as a graduate assistant and teaching assistant for 2 years while completing her Master's in Counseling. Upon graduation, she was hired into her current advising role and has remained at LSUS for 7 years. In addition to her primary responsibilities, Nolan is an officer for the Transfer Success Group and Trial for Honor Society, participates in NSLS and the Gardner Institute, and volunteers by coaching soccer for four young girls. She has received a peer award, MVP honors in a soccer conference tournament, and graduated magna cum laude.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Seek resources not only within your job but locally as well because there are just so many resources out there that you don't know about and unless you do know about that you could use or refer to someone else who needs it to use as well. That way we're all just building the resource box that we have.
