Her Story

About Kirsten

Kirsten Vereecken is a registered dietitian (RD) and board-certified specialist in pediatric nutrition (CSP) with a career spanning clinical practice and medical sales. She earned her undergraduate degree in dietetics from Western Michigan University and completed a year-long internship at Spectrum Health, now Corewell Health, with rotations in clinical nutrition, community nutrition including WIC, and food service. Beginning her professional journey in 2008 as a clinical dietitian at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, she provided care across multiple specialties and floors before focusing on outpatient services in the neurodevelopmental clinic, where she supported nutrition for neurodivergent children and those failing to thrive. After about 10 years in clinical pediatrics, she moved into medical sales, first with Mead Johnson handling infant formula and human milk fortifier, then with Kate Farms on pediatric plant-based formulas in the Texas area working with clinicians and WIC. Currently at Ellaola, she works remotely from Michigan educating clinicians and health systems nationwide on micronutrient deficiencies in both neurodivergent and neurotypical children, promoting powdered tasteless multivitamins that can be mixed into foods or drinks. She was voted MVP of her district by peers during her time at Mead Johnson, attributing her success to a strong support system and self-discipline while emphasizing the importance of connecting with others and building from a solid clinical foundation.

Ten minutes with Kirsten

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the support system I have around me. I have a very supportive husband, parents, and family. I have two great kids which keeps life so fun! I have amazing leadership at EllaOla and a team that cannot be beat. The second is self-discipline and grit and thirdly, a positive perspective ~ knowing that I get to do this job. I get to make a difference!

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Nobody will care WHAT you know until they know HOW much you care. It is really about connecting with people and meeting them where they're at. Being able to pivot shows that you care about what is important to them.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

This is a great industry to enter into. Always start with the clinical foundation. Having that strong clinical foundation has made me successful in the medical sales industry. Medical sales can be really exciting and such a great opportunity to grow new skillsets.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

With a start up company, challenges include being small at first, but of course MIGHTY. We are all so eager to help so many patients as that's what it is really about. Opportunities include research with top IDNs on how the product works with neurodivergent kids and seeing exponential growth.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I love the Lord and strive to live my life in a way that exemplifies and magnifies Him!

Professionally: self-discipline, listening, collaboration, teamwork, bringing forth ideas and solutions, being willing to ask for help when needed.
