I attribute my success to persistence, attention to detail and a deep sense of responsibility to the work and communities I serve. As a first generation college graduate, I learned early on the importance of discipline and adaptability, and advocating for myself in unfamiliar places. These qualities help me as I continue to navigate complex systems while still remaining grounded in purpose driven work.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that on-the-job training is just as important as continued education. Embracing both has allowed me to grow, adapt, and excel in my role by applying what I learn directly to real-world challenges.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering this industry to take the time to truly understand how the grant management process works and how program structures are set up. The more you immerse yourself and learn, the more confident and capable you become.

The biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now center on ensuring that every initiative is properly approved and that all resources are used effectively and in full alignment with organizational requirements. Staying diligent in compliance, documentation, and oversight not only helps maintain accountability but also creates opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen program integrity, and support more efficient impactful outcomes.
