Kirsty Gordon
Kirsty Gordon is the Mill Superintendent at Bay State Milling in Winona, Minnesota, where she brings a deep passion for the grain industry and extensive experience in wheat and rye milling. She earned her degrees in Milling Science & Management and Bakery Science & Management, along with a secondary degree in Global Food Systems from Kansas State University. She gained practical experience through internships at other flour mills in Birmingham, Alabama and Guyana, South America during her time in college. Her expertise spans manufacturing process improvement and production management, allowing her to lead a mill team efficiently at one of the biggest mills in the country while maintaining the highest industry standards. Kirsty’s career has included a variety of technical and leadership roles, from Technical Miller to Mill Superintendent, giving her hands-on insight into every aspect of milling operations. She was the first female and youngest ever mill superintendent in company history of 125 years. She was awarded the 2025 Aspiring Miller Award, recognizing high achieving operative millers under 30 years of age. Her dedication to continuous learning and professional development is reflected in certifications such as OSHA 30 and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Beyond her professional work, Kirsty is committed to inspiring the next generation of grain industry professionals. She also serves as Flour City District Director and on the Women in Milling Leadership Team for the International Association of Operative Millers.
