Her Interview
Ten minutes with KLa
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to having strong mentors who empowered me, provided valuable resources and tools, and encouraged me to pursue greater opportunities. I have been fortunate to learn from mentors such as Dr. Jeffrey and Dr. Liu, whose guidance helped me recognize my potential and strive to accomplish more. I also attribute my success to my own drive for continuous improvement. I genuinely love what I do and am always looking for ways to learn, improve, and contribute more effectively.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to work smarter, not harder. Effective delegation is essential to success. I believe in focusing on what I do best and delegating responsibilities that others are better equipped to handle. This approach allows a team to use its strengths effectively while creating a more efficient and productive workplace.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering the dental and healthcare field to embrace the opportunities available to them. It is an incredibly worthwhile and rewarding field, and there is always something new to learn. Be open to growth, take advantage of opportunities to develop your skills, and appreciate the journey because the years can pass quickly. The experience you gain along the way can be both personally and professionally rewarding.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the challenges in healthcare today is the amount of information available online. Patients can encounter reviews, opinions, and health-related information through Google and other online platforms, and not everything they see is necessarily accurate. It is important to recognize the value we bring to our patients and teams and to remain confident in the quality of our work. One negative review or remark should not define an individual, a practice, or the value of the service being provided.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Transparency is one of the most important values to me, both professionally and personally. I believe that being open, honest, and straightforward helps build trust with colleagues, patients, and the people around me. Transparency provides a strong foundation for productive relationships and a healthy working environment.
