About K. Louise
Louise Acharya is the founder of Prepone Consulting, a limited liability company based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She formally registered the company in 2007 and relaunched it this year following changes in the federal workforce, drawing on her extensive background to provide strategic communications and international development services. With more than 30 years of professional experience, Acharya began her career as a journalist in public radio after being mentored while waitressing her way through undergraduate studies. She worked as a reporter and political reporter, including for Minnesota Public Radio, and served as co-founding producer of the program Worldview, which contributed to the development of The World on PRI and PRX. She also reported for the Canadian Broadcasting System and had a piece on the BBC. Acharya later transitioned into political communications advising on a presidential campaign before shifting to international work. For more than 15 years, she worked with the United States Agency for International Development across 28 countries. She holds a bachelor's degree earned in 1983 and a master's degree earned in 1993, and she was a public policy study fellow at the University of Minnesota Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs and Governance from 1996 to 1997. Acharya brings a political economy and social-cultural lens to her strategic communications work, emphasizing the human element in an era of AI. She is certified as a women business enterprise, small business enterprise, and emerging small business enterprise, and is registered on SAM.gov as a vendor for the City of Minneapolis, St. Paul, Ramsey County, Hennepin County, and the State of Minnesota. She is also a new member of the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits. Through Prepone Consulting, Acharya focuses on mentoring early and mid-career colleagues while serving clients with a global mindset.
