Her Story
About Krista
I am a master hairstylist who has been in business for 13 years. I specialize in textured, kinky, curly hair of any type and focus on hair health and treatments at an affordable cost so that all women, especially moms and working women, can access high-quality services. I started as a mobile hairstylist in Houston where I did editorial and freelance work, and now I rent a chair in Grosse Pointe while opening my own salon in December. I also maintain my CMA certification on the side. I value integrity, great customer service, and a positive attitude, and I attribute my success to client retention and the ability to put smiles on faces.

Ten minutes with Krista
01What do you attribute your success to?
My success comes from the return percentage I have and how long my clients have been with me. Being able to put a smile on someone's face makes me successful.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Always be a learner. You can learn from anybody. And just take pride in your artistry.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Continue to seek out education. Learn as much as you need to learn. Learn how to do every texture of hair, and I mean every texture. It will take you very far.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The ups and downs of the industry, the inconsistency where one week you are super busy and the next you may have more cancellations.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value integrity, creating a great experience for anybody in my chair, great customer service where everybody gets treated the same, and having an overall positive attitude when approaching anyone.
