Krista Webster is a versatile graphic designer based in Brooklyn, New York, known for her thoughtful use of typography, illustration, and digital media to communicate complex ideas. A graduate of the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, Krista has cultivated a comprehensive and analytical approach to design, focusing on digital advertisements, data visualization, and creative content across various platforms. Her work emphasizes clarity and visual storytelling, blending technical proficiency with artistic flair.

Krista began her professional journey during the COVID-19 pandemic as a packaging designer at a wholesale company in New York, honing her skills in Adobe Illustrator and other key design tools. Following a period of freelance work—ranging from health-company graphics to PowerPoint presentations and illustrated wedding invitations—she joined CDW as a contractor in 2022. Her role evolved into a full-time position, where she contributes to editorial and content design, creates client-focused advertisements, and explores animation and video projects using After Effects and Premiere. Notable projects include an animated video for Cisco Live and an isometric illustration for an IBM mainframes campaign.

Driven by creativity and curiosity, Krista approaches every project with a learning mindset and a commitment to authenticity. She continuously seeks to expand her technical expertise, recently exploring UI/UX design through Figma, while maintaining a strong foundation in illustration and publication design. Whether developing innovative digital experiences, refining visual narratives, or collaborating on interdisciplinary projects, Krista prioritizes innovation, clarity, and meaningful visual communication in all her work.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a commitment to continuous learning and self-teaching, developing practical skills in tools such as Adobe Illustrator and animation, and maintaining a willingness to explore diverse projects and confidently pitch my ideas.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering the industry to explore as many opportunities as possible and to confidently pitch their ideas, even beyond the strict scope of their role. Commit to continuous learning, and understand that early challenges and friction are signs of growth. It’s okay not to be the best in the room — that’s often where the most valuable learning happens. Even moments of self-doubt, like imposter syndrome, are natural; pushing through them and embracing opportunities for growth is key to building a fulfilling career.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The growing impact of AI and evolving workflows present both challenges and opportunities in my field, including integrating AI effectively and adapting to shifts toward more sales-driven priorities. At the same time, expanding team capabilities and acquiring new skills — such as animation, video production, UI/UX, and landing-page design — offer significant opportunities for growth and innovation.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Authenticity and honesty are central to both my work and personal life — people who know me would say these qualities define me. I also value curiosity and creativity, believing in bringing my unique voice and perspective to everything I do while continuing to persevere in staying true to myself.
