Her advocacy has expanded into supporting NICU families following her personal experience as the mother of a daughter born at 25 weeks, inspiring her to author a book chronicling their healing journey and to pursue additional training, including doula certification, to better serve families facing similar challenges.
Kristee earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology, graduating magna cum laude from Voorhees College (now Voorhees University), a historically Black college in South Carolina. She has completed extensive leadership development throughout her federal career and holds certifications as a Speaker, Leader, Author, and Investor through Black Women Who Want More, along with certification as a Life Coach. Committed to lifelong learning, she is currently pursuing additional healthcare-related certifications to better support hospitals while preparing to begin doctoral studies in leadership. Guided by the principles of service, integrity, compassion, and stewardship, Kristee remains focused on creating opportunities that strengthen communities, develop future leaders, and leave a lasting legacy of positive impact.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kristee
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my strong moral compass, unwavering perseverance, and the strength I draw from my faith and inner resilience. Growing up as an only child taught me independence, self-reliance, and the importance of trusting my own judgment. These qualities have enabled me to overcome challenges, stay true to my values, and remain focused on achieving my goals with integrity and determination.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to find my purpose, stay committed to it, and use my work to serve others. While I once wished I had pursued a career in journalism, I’ve found deep fulfillment through public service and by writing a book to support NICU mothers. My experience has taught me that true success comes from making a meaningful difference in someone else’s life, and I encourage others to pursue work that allows them to create a positive and lasting impact.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to trust your natural instincts, embrace your unique strengths, and recognize the value you bring through your compassion, resilience, and purpose. Believe in yourself, even during difficult seasons, and remember that your confidence, perseverance, and authenticity will empower you to make a meaningful and lasting impact.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is navigating the rapidly changing workforce, particularly as more women step into leadership roles. At the same time, this shift presents tremendous opportunities for growth, mentorship, and meaningful impact. I believe long-term success is about more than education or experience—it requires strong interpersonal skills, confidence, integrity, and the ability to build genuine relationships. These qualities not only help individuals advance in their careers but also enable them to create lasting value for the people and organizations they serve.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are serving others with compassion, leading with a servant’s heart, being a good steward of the opportunities I’ve been given, and helping those who may not have the courage to advocate for themselves. I strive to act with integrity and genuine care rather than self-interest because I believe that when we serve from the heart, the rewards naturally follow. My strong moral compass, perseverance, and inner resilience continue to guide me in everything I do.
