About Kristen
Kristen Coats serves as Assistant Executive Director for an assisted living and memory care facility in Mobile, Alabama. She began her career in healthcare in 2011 with a background in physical therapy, where her primary focus was geriatric care. After recognizing gaps in resources and advocacy for seniors, she returned to school and earned a healthcare administration degree from the University of South Alabama, having started at Bishop State Community College. Coats transitioned through roles in business development and consulting before advancing to her current position. She is currently pursuing a master's in public health at Brown University, from which she received a merit-based scholarship, and plans to graduate in December. Coats is also working to obtain her administrator's license to better address policy and access issues in senior care. She is a member of the American Public Health Association and serves as treasurer for the Mobile County Public Library. Her work is motivated by a desire to help families navigate senior living options and ensure quality of life and continued independence for residents.
