Her Story

About Kristen

Kristen Grein is the founder of Traveling Pawsies LLC, a pet transportation service based in Winthrop, Massachusetts, serving pet owners throughout the Boston area. A lifelong animal lover, Kristen established the business after recognizing a need for dependable, convenient transportation for pets. Inspired by an experience with her own dogs, she developed a service that helps pet owners transport their animals safely to appointments, daycare, boarding facilities, and other destinations. Drawing on her previous experience in elder care, where she provided companionship and transportation assistance to clients attending medical appointments and personal outings, Kristen recognized an opportunity to bring the same level of care and convenience to pet owners. Her goal is to provide a reliable, pet-focused alternative that gives families greater flexibility while ensuring their beloved companions receive attentive care. Since launching Traveling Pawsies LLC, Kristen has concentrated on building brand awareness, developing her client base, and establishing a strong foundation for future growth. Her entrepreneurial journey has already gained recognition, as she was selected from approximately 50,000 applicants to participate in The Blox, a reality show highlighting entrepreneurs and businesses seeking growth opportunities. This experience represents an exciting opportunity to expand her business's visibility and reach. Kristen's entrepreneurial spirit is driven by determination and a willingness to challenge expectations. She attributes much of her motivation to people who doubt her abilities, using their skepticism as inspiration to prove what is possible. Guided by her philosophy, "If I can, watch me," she embraces challenges as opportunities to demonstrate resilience, creativity, and perseverance. Beyond her professional endeavors, Kristen is a devoted mother of three, a grandmother, and a proud pet parent to Tyson and Ripley, whose names inspired her original business concept. Her love for animals is central to both her personal life and professional mission. She is also passionate about pancreatic cancer awareness and fundraising, participating in walks and charitable initiatives in memory of her mother, who passed away from the disease. Kristen hopes to help bring greater attention to pancreatic cancer and support efforts that make a difference for affected families. As she continues growing her business, she encourages young women to explore opportunities, travel, gain life experiences, and remain open to new possibilities rather than feeling pressured to choose one career path early in life. Her own journey demonstrates that it is never too late to pursue an idea, take a chance, and build something meaningful.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kristen

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my success to the doubt of others, as it motivates me to prove that I can accomplish what people say is impossible. When someone tells me I cannot do something, it inspires me to work harder and show them otherwise. My attention to detail and ability to stay focused also contribute to my drive and determination.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

:

"Stop waiting for someone to give you permission to become the person you know you're capable of being. Start before you're ready, believe in what you're building, and don't let your circumstances convince you that your possibilities are limited."

"Don't let your limitations define your potential. Let your determination define your direction."

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women not to feel pressured to have their entire future figured out. You can start something new at any age, and there is always room to explore different opportunities. Get out there, work, travel, embrace new experiences, and make the most of your youth. Experience life, discover what you enjoy, and remain open to new possibilities.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge as a small-business owner is building awareness and securing the funding needed to grow. But I believe that by combining compassion, reliability, and a service that solves a real problem, TRaveling Pawsies can make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their families.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me are compassion, honesty, integrity, determination, and treating people with kindness and respect.

In both my personal life and my work, I believe in making a difference, even in small ways. I'm passionate about animals and believe they deserve the same love, care, and consideration that we give our family members.

I also believe that your circumstances should never determine your potential. Life doesn't always take the path you expect, but challenges can teach you resilience, strength, and the importance of never giving up on yourself.

As a business owner, I want TRaveling Pawsies to stand for trust, reliability, compassion, and genuine care. I want customers to know that their pets are in loving, responsible hands.

Ultimately, I value making a difference, staying true to myself, and building something meaningful that I'm proud to put my name behind.
