Her Story

About kristen

Kristen Souza serves as a shareholder in the field of law. She has practiced since 2011 and maintains her office at 175 Federal Street, Suite 410, in Boston, Massachusetts. Souza earned her bachelor's degree from Northeastern University in 2007, where she majored in criminal justice and minored in political science. She then attended New England School of Law at night for four years and graduated in 2011, passing the bar that same year. Her career began at her firm while she was still in college, starting as a clerk. She continued working there as a paralegal during law school, advanced to associate after passing the bar, became of counsel, and was promoted to shareholder a few years ago. A lifelong passion for helping people has driven her professional journey, and she attributes her success to the strong work ethic modeled by her parents, particularly her mother, and her sister.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with kristen

01What do you attribute your success to?

Definitely my parents, especially my mom, who always worked growing up. Seeing her get up and go to work every day really inspired a strong work ethic in me. My sister, a few years older, doing the same thing while raising two sons has also really inspired me.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My old boss and mentor told me to never be afraid to go in there and speak your opinion, even when surrounded by older men. Have your voice be heard and take a seat at the table. Don't let it be intimidating, and don't give up on days when you want to quit - just keep going.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be afraid to sit at the table. Don't worry if you look different than your colleagues and peers. Just work hard, put your head down and work hard, and in the end it will pay off.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I struggle with juggling being a mom and being a shareholder. It's a lot of being pulled in many different directions with two little boys who are very involved in sports. I have to find balance to be present for them but also for my clients and colleagues. It's very hard, but I try to take it one day at a time and do my best.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, hard work, treating everyone fairly, and always treating everyone with compassion and kindness no matter their circumstances. If you can help someone, you help them. I try to instill that in my two little boys as well - always be hardworking, take care of yourself, and show kindness to people.
