What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of hard work, hands-on experience, and the guidance of exceptional mentors. Early in my career, Wayne Wilson and Chuck Spahn taught me invaluable business skills and leadership techniques that shaped my approach to management. While I have a high school diploma and some college credits, I pursued management certifications at Red Lobster and earned various food safety credentials, which complemented my on-the-job learning. Over time, I have also become a mentor myself, helping team members at Coeur d’Alene Casino advance their careers and navigate the unique challenges of tribal casino management. I have found that practical experience, combined with listening to knowledgeable mentors, often provides deeper insights than formal education alone.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The industry has ample opportunity work hard, find people who believe in you, and lean into training and experience. Persistence and the right mentors will open doors.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are community, mentorship, and meaningful engagement. I dedicate time volunteering at the Southeast Spokane County Fair, where I help organize a scholarship program for young women serving as princesses and ambassadors, focusing on their public speaking skills and presentation rather than physical appearance. I enjoy attending multiple fairs throughout the summer to support their growth and confidence. Equally important is spending quality time with my two daughters, including coaching cheer, where I can encourage teamwork, discipline, and a positive mindset both on and off the mat.
