About Kristin

Kristin Cooke is a technology and creative design professional with more than 23 years of experience spanning product design, UX strategy, graphic design, web development, photography, video production, motion design, animation, and creative strategy. She currently serves as a Staff Product Designer for Adobe GenStudio, where she works on future-facing experiences across Adobe's content supply chain and GenStudio platforms. Her work includes shaping UX strategy, developing AI-powered workflows, establishing design patterns and systems, and aligning cross-functional teams across design, product, and engineering. Before Adobe, her career included positions and consulting engagements with organizations including Meta, Google, Capital One, TiVo, and FINRA.

Cooke has developed a distinctive approach to design that connects technology with human-centered thinking and cultural strategy. At Adobe, she has contributed to GenStudio from zero-to-one development, Creative Cloud Libraries, Adobe Express integrations, and AI-powered product experiences. Her previous work at Meta involved AI Research design systems and visual direction across web, React, iOS, Android, AR, and VR, while at Google she led UX and strategy initiatives involving Geo Indoor Experiences and Next Billion Users. She has also spent nearly two decades through KCooke providing design strategy, branded product experiences, creative direction, workshops, and mentorship for Fortune 50–500 companies and entrepreneurs. Her design work has received two 2015 IMA Best in Class Awards from the Interactive Media Council.

Beyond her corporate design career, Cooke is a speaker, mentor, creative strategist, and entrepreneur committed to helping others develop their creative potential. She mentors designers through ADPList and Designed.org and has participated in Richmond UX and VCU design-student programs. She has also contributed to Help-Portrait, using photography to support individuals experiencing homelessness. Her educational background includes a BFA in Graphic Design from the Academy of Art University and studies at the Art Institute of Colorado and Art Institute of Washington, complemented by professional education in Disruptive Strategy through Harvard Business School. Through her work, mentorship, and emerging entrepreneurial efforts, Cooke continues to explore the intersection of AI, technology, creativity, culture, and human-centered design.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kristin

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to curiosity, creativity, resilience, continuous learning, and the willingness to work across disciplines. My ability to combine design, technology, strategy, and different creative disciplines has allowed me to approach complex problems from multiple perspectives. I have also benefited from mentors, colleagues, and professional relationships that have helped me continue developing throughout my career.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage the next generation of designers and creative professionals to develop self-confidence in their abilities, explore multiple disciplines, and find their authentic creative voices. Creativity can take many forms, and building a broad range of skills can open opportunities to work at the intersection of design, technology, culture, and strategy. I also believe in the value of mentorship, collaboration, and continuing to learn as the industry evolves.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The rapid development of artificial intelligence presents both significant challenges and opportunities for design. As AI increasingly influences how products and experiences are created, designers have an opportunity to help shape technology around human needs rather than simply adapting humans to technology. I am particularly interested in bridging AI technology with human-centered design and transforming complexity into clearer, more meaningful experiences.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Creativity, human-centered thinking, continuous learning, collaboration, mentorship, and meaningful impact are important values in my work and personal life. I believe design should put people ahead of technology and create experiences that help people connect, discover, and express their own creative voices. I also value giving back by mentoring emerging professionals and using my skills to support communities and people who may not otherwise have access to creative resources.
