What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the incredible experience of working across a variety of industries, where I have been able to apply my expertise in building community initiatives at the intersection of education, faith, and social justice. I am passionate about expanding equitable access to a college-preparatory education and am always eager to connect with others who share this vision.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to get your foot in the door in any capacity, do your homework, and remain open to every opportunity without being attached to any particular outcome. Be yourself, stay authentic, and show up as the person you are meant to be—not just who others expect you to be.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Family, education, and community are at the heart of both my personal and professional life. I am about to become a grandmother and have three wonderful children in Texas, and I am exploring opportunities in the area where I can contribute my expertise to help communities grow with a strong focus on education and children’s development.
Growing up in Michigan, I played competitive golf and was part of my high school’s first competitive golf team. Sports have always been a passion of mine, but family has always come first. My journey as a licensed foster parent began in Chicago, and over the years, my love for nurturing children has guided me—first through fostering, then adopting, and continuing to provide a safe and supportive home for those in need. These experiences have shaped my commitment to care, empathy, and empowerment.
I also devote my time to volunteering and consulting for nonprofits, supporting causes such as animal welfare, arts and culture, children’s development, education, poverty alleviation, economic empowerment, and civil rights. I strive to make a meaningful impact wherever I can, helping communities and individuals achieve their full potential.
