Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the incredible experience of working across a variety of industries, where I have been able to apply my marketing and leadership expertise in building community initiatives at the intersection of education, faith, and social justice. I am passionate about expanding equitable access to a college-preparatory education and am always eager to connect with others who believe in this mission.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Find the intersection of what you do really well and what you care deeply about—this is where you can find purpose-driven work that inspires you.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to get your foot in the door in any capacity, do your homework, work hard, and remain open to every opportunity without being attached to any particular outcomes. Show up as the person you are meant to be—not who others expect you to be, and find the intersection of what you're really good at and what you're passionate about. I believe it's at this intersection where you can find a purpose-driven, successful career.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

There will always be challenges in every industry. The key is having the perspective to see them as opportunities for differentiating yourself or your business and positioning yourself (or your business) as a solution to the challenges.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family, faith, and education are at the heart of both my personal and professional life. I am about to become a grandmother and have three wonderful children in Austin, Texas, and one at home, soon to enter high school. I am always exploring opportunities where I can contribute my expertise to help communities grow with a strong focus on education and children’s welfare. Growing up in Michigan, I played competitive golf and was part of my high school’s first women's competitive golf team. Sports have always been a passion of mine, but family has always come first. My journey as a licensed foster parent began in 2005, and over the years, my love for nurturing children has guided me—first through fostering, then adopting, and continuing to provide safe and supportive environments for those in need. All of these experiences have shaped my approach to leadership and strengthened my focus on creating meaningful, long-term impact. I also devote my time to volunteering and consulting for nonprofits, supporting causes in the realm of child welfare, educational and economic empowerment, and social justice. I strive to make a meaningful impact wherever I can, helping communities and individuals achieve their full potential.
