About Kristin
Kristin LloydLeigh serves as a Program Specialist in the education field, where she supports teachers in special education through coaching, development, and collaboration with school leadership. Based in Los Angeles, California, she entered the profession in 2008 after pursuing a degree in special education, which she obtained following various prior roles and the economic challenges of the recession. She has experience working across multiple schools and even statewide projects supporting numerous districts, and she previously taught in China for five years, witnessing significant student growth in English and confidence. Kristin also studied school psychology and is actively creating resources to help parents and teachers understand how children's brains work and connect school learning to home environments. She maintains professional memberships in the Council of Exceptional Children and Kappa Delta Pi.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Trust yourself. And don't let a veteran in the field change your new perspective. What I found is as someone who has been in education for a long time, they're like lifelong teachers. And sometimes they're a bit jaded in how they receive or approach things. So the new stuff is scary and it comes out as negative. So, I just want people to enter this field with, like, what can I do to learn as much as possible before I try to change things?
