Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the mentors who believed in me and kept me moving forward in my career. When I first got into SGS at 19, my mentor kept promoting me from one position to another and never let my contract end where I didn't have a job the next day. Seeing how much he believed in me, especially as a quiet, stoic individual, was clear - he was keeping me up. I really appreciate his straightforward nature because he cuts off all the BS and gives it to you straight. He said things I didn't like sometimes, and I think that's really what makes a mentor a mentor - they teach you, and they don't have to be nice or mean, it doesn't matter. It almost becomes like an older family member, like an uncle. My actual manager Steve Scott was the same deal - we went through plenty of personal things together, especially working in my industry which is just as chaotic and messy as Mad Men. They kept me on as a team member even though I wasn't one of the guys, so it felt like I was valued there, and I always was. Even today, if I ever needed any advice, or a job, or anything like that, I could reach out to those two individuals.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to work hard, stay focused, and be willing to start at the bottom. Take on all tasks—big or small—to build relationships and demonstrate commitment. At the same time, maintain clear boundaries and give your full effort while working. The effort you put in, even on tasks that feel like “busy work,” is how you earn respect, grow professionally, and move toward the top.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is that it’s a small, highly connection-driven industry, and post-COVID financial and operational pressures have made navigating it even more complex. At the same time, there are exciting opportunities to make a tangible impact through packaging and brand redesigns—work that can shift shopper perception and deliver measurable results for both private-label and major brands.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are hard work, professionalism, reliability, and compassion. I strive to maintain clear boundaries while giving my best effort in every project. My dedication to these values extends beyond work—through volunteer and fostering efforts with dogs from Puerto Rico, I aim to make a meaningful difference wherever I can.
