Her Story

About Kristina

Kristina Harris has approximately 16 years of experience in education. She earned an undergraduate degree in business with a focus on HR and international HR, followed by a graduate degree. Early in her career, she interned and worked in a manufacturing organization in HR before transitioning out of that field. Harris then entered education in an operations and project management role, with some time in the non-profit sector, and has now served as a Grant Administrator at a university for about seven years. Project management has been a consistent thread throughout her various positions. She is a member of the Society of Research Administrators International and Omicron Delta Kappa. Harris received a research grant a couple of years ago and an Excellence Award from her organization this year. She attributes her success to performing her job to the best of her ability, continuously learning, taking on new projects and responsibilities, and focusing on efficiency by identifying and implementing better solutions when needed. Outside of work, she volunteers with her church and has supported United Way campaigns, Food Bank, and Salvation Army efforts.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kristina

01What do you attribute your success to?

I do my job to the best of my ability, learn new things, take on new projects and responsibilities, and focus on efficiency. If something isn't working, I find a better solution and make it work. I'm willing to learn anything I don't know.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The economy is playing a role in education. It's competitive and costly to go to college in the United States, making it hard to support both my employer (a university) and my own recent high school graduate son.
