About Kristina
Kristina Odom is an experienced healthcare risk and compliance executive with a background in nursing and law. She served as Chief Risk Officer at Bon Secours Mercy Health after more than 15 years in risk, insurance, and compliance leadership roles at Mercy Health. Her experience includes regulatory compliance management and medical malpractice defense litigation. She holds a JD from the University of Dayton School of Law and a bachelor's degree in Nursing Science from the University of Cincinnati. She is certified as ACI and CBCP. She attributes her success to an incredible team with diverse skill sets and empowering others.

01What do you attribute your success to?
An absolutely incredible team. I have surrounded myself with people who have completely different skill sets than I do. And without I mean, it sounds cliche, but teamwork makes the dream work kind of thing. My team has the people who worked under me, in various roles, all have such different skill sets. And together, we were successful. It wasn't I mean, don't get me wrong, I mean, I realize I'm successful, but I'm successful because they are successful. So And empowering the people who work with you. To be successful in their own right. Has made me successful. Because they're rock stars.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
One time, a female board member said to me, don't ever be intimidated. Because you know more about this topic than anybody else does. She knew I was nervous going into a meeting. And she's like, there isn't anybody here who knows your stuff better than you do. She's like, so, don't let anybody make you feel like you don't belong here, because you do.
