About Kristine

Kristine Apikian is a renewable energy and infrastructure project management professional with over 20 years in development and 4 years focused on transmission and renewable energy. She currently serves as Transmission Development Director for GreenLink, a $4.2 billion transmission project at NV Energy. She started her career in commercial real estate development in Los Angeles, moved to Las Vegas about 7 to 8 years ago to continue that work, then spent a little over a year at Tesla helping build out supercharging infrastructure in the Pacific Northwest before joining NV Energy on the GreenLink project. She also completed the Sierra Solar project, a $1.5 billion solar coupled with battery energy storage system. Her background combines renewable energy, transmission infrastructure, EV charging, and real estate development, supported by a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara in philosophy with emphasis in ethics and public policy, a master's of science in leadership from the University of San Diego with focus in project management, and courses at Yale on finance along with project management certificate programs.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to continuously improving myself, learning from others around me. I'm naturally anxious, so I like to try, and you'll fail sometimes, but you keep going, and you'll find success.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Get clear on their vision and what they want to be doing, and get clear on themselves and who they are. Just go for it. There's so much opportunity and so many possibilities. Don't overthink too much. Put your mind to where you want to see yourself in the next however many years, and go for it.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

In energy, challenges lie in the development part including permitting challenges, scheduling challenges. It's a very tough market right now. These projects are major and cost a lot of money. It's difficult to secure funds and execute without solid planning and strategic planning at the start of a project.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, ethical business practices, community service, relationship building, building a solid team, and forming long-lasting strong relationships with people you work with and other companies.
