Ten minutes with Kristy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the strong relationships I have built with other women in the industry and the opportunities I have been given throughout my career. As a first-generation professional in this field and one of the few Black female attorneys—representing just 2% of the workforce—I was determined to make the most of every opportunity. That experience shaped my resilience, strengthened my commitment, and motivated me to pave the way for others.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to always remember why I chose this field. Staying connected to my purpose has helped me overcome challenges and avoid second-guessing myself. When I remain focused on my mission, the rest naturally falls into place.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women to find mentors and build a strong support network. Surround yourself with people who will challenge you, encourage you, and help you grow. Having trusted mentors and peers can make a meaningful difference throughout your career.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me most are fairness, equity, and self-actualization. I believe in creating opportunities for others, treating people with respect, and continually striving to grow both personally and professionally. These principles shape how I lead, make decisions, and contribute to my community.
