Outside of her professional work, Kristy is passionate about community service and has supported organizations including CARA Collective and the American Lung Association, helping raise nearly $40,000. She credits her success to curiosity, meaningful relationships, and the mentors who encouraged her to take on new challenges and continue growing as a leader.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kristy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a belief that investing in people is the foundation for building strong, sustainable organizations. Throughout my career, I have focused on helping individuals and teams grow because I believe people are at the center of every successful business. One of my greatest professional achievements has been betting on myself—having the confidence to pursue opportunities, embrace challenges, and trust in my ability to make a meaningful impact.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to think bigger, believe in my abilities, and embrace opportunities that challenge me professionally. I have been fortunate to learn from incredible mentors, including Jenny Dede and Maggie McBennett, who encouraged me to build confidence, take on new challenges, and recognize my own potential. Their guidance reinforced the importance of continuous growth and stepping outside of my comfort zone.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the HR profession is to know your value and remain connected to your passion. The work we do has a significant impact on organizations and the people within them, and it is important not to let others define the importance of your contributions. Stay confident, continue learning, and trust the perspective and skills you bring to the table.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The HR profession is experiencing rapid transformation, particularly as artificial intelligence continues to reshape recruiting, communication, and decision-making processes. While these changes present new challenges, they also create opportunities to improve how organizations support and develop their people. Even as technology evolves, I believe the human element will remain the foundation of every successful organization.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Building trust and helping others have always been the values that guide me. I believe strong relationships begin with authenticity, reliability, and a genuine desire to support people. These principles have shaped my career in HR and continue to influence how I approach both professional and personal relationships. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors through activities like hiking and snowboarding, traveling on road trips, and exploring my creativity through floral design.
