Her Interview
Ten minutes with Krystal
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to taking chances and having faith in myself. I have always been willing to put myself out there, ask questions, and pursue opportunities—even when they felt uncertain—trusting in God to guide my path.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I’ve been blessed to learn from many strong leaders who have shaped my journey. The best advice I’ve received is to take chances, trust in God, and remain open to growth. That combination of faith and action has guided me every step of the way.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don’t wait until you feel “ready”—just start. Put yourself in the room, ask questions, and take every opportunity to learn. This industry is built on relationships and real experience, so be intentional about networking and getting hands-on wherever you can.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in the field right now is the growing demand for meaningful, experience-driven spaces that bring people together and foster genuine community connection. People are craving more walkable, engaging environments where they can gather, support local businesses, and feel a sense of belonging. This creates incredible opportunities for experiential programming, wellness initiatives, cultural events, and creative activations that transform underutilized spaces into vibrant community hubs.
Another major opportunity is the increasing support for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and local creatives through community-centered programming. Cities, developers, and organizations are recognizing that experiences—not just infrastructure—are what truly create destination-driven communities and long-term economic vitality.
One of the biggest challenges, however, is balancing growth and development with authenticity and accessibility. As communities evolve, it is important to ensure programming remains inclusive, culturally relevant, and accessible to a diverse range of residents and visitors. There is also an ongoing challenge in securing funding, sponsorships, and long-term partnerships that allow creative community initiatives to grow sustainably.
Additionally, expectations around events and public experiences continue to evolve rapidly. People are looking for more immersive, interactive, wellness-focused, and social-media-worthy experiences, which requires professionals in the field to remain innovative, adaptable, and deeply connected to community needs and trends.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I’m guided by faith, integrity, and a strong sense of purpose. I value being intentional in my work, building meaningful relationships, and creating experiences that positively impact others. For me, success isn’t just about execution—it’s about how people feel and what lasting connections are created.
