Dr. Krystal S. Jones, LNHA is an accomplished healthcare administrator, dementia care advocate, and published author with more than 12 years of experience serving older adults in the healthcare and gerontology fields. Inspired by her great-grandmother, who worked as a caregiver in the healthcare industry, Dr. Jones developed a deep passion for supporting and advocating for seniors from an early age. She views her career as a meaningful way to honor her great-grandmother’s legacy while continuing to make a positive impact in the lives of older adults and their families. Over the years, her dedication to compassionate care and community advocacy has led her to advance into leadership roles focused on long-term care administration and dementia education.
Currently serving with Medical Facilities of America, Dr. Jones oversees the operations of a 120-bed skilled nursing facility where she manages all aspects of daily administration, including staffing, payroll, timekeeping, compliance, and operational oversight. While her responsibilities are extensive, she considers the most important part of her role to be building relationships with residents, supporting families, and advocating for quality care within both the facility and the surrounding community. As a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and Certified Dementia Practitioner, she is committed to ensuring that residents receive compassionate, person-centered care while fostering a positive and supportive environment for both staff and families. Her expertise also includes healthcare leadership, team development, chronic disease management, and dementia education, areas in which she continues to make a lasting professional impact.
Dr. Jones earned her Doctor of Healthcare Administration degree from Virginia University of Lynchburg and holds a Master of Health Services Administration from Strayer University. In addition to her healthcare leadership, she is a two-time published author whose first book focuses on helping families and caregivers navigate the complexities of long-term care systems and decision-making. The publication reflects her passion for education, advocacy, and empowering families to feel informed and prepared when caring for loved ones. Beyond healthcare, Dr. Jones has also been recognized for her community leadership and humanitarian work, including earning the title of Miss United States Plus World 2021 and 2022 for her contributions to promoting education, wellness, cultural awareness, and peace. Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I don't even feel like I've had a lot of success with everything that I've done, but I would say just overall, my family. They have been very supportive. I could not do this without them. So I would say definitely my family. I want better for us, so I only know that by working hard and getting the proper education to do so. Even with me having my doctoral degree, I was not a really good high school student, so you never really know where your journey is gonna take you. You just need to continue to be persistent in whatever your goals are. You are never too old to start over.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

You never really know where your journey is gonna take you. Just continue to be persistent in whatever your goals are. You are never too old to start over. And you know, just enjoy the life that you have, but be grateful for the many opportunities and take opportunities when you get them. So funny enough, even with me having my doctoral degree, I was not a really good high school student, so that really shows that you never know where life will take you.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My great-grandmother was very influential in raising me, and she really instilled a lot of different values that have just always kind of stuck with me. That love for older adults and the desire to give back to her memory by working with seniors is central to everything I do. Outside of work, I'm a big girl mom. My daughter is 16 and very active in the community and volunteering, so a lot of what I do revolves around being a cheer mom for her, whether it's cheering or dancing, really just being a cheerleader for her. I also do a lot of work within my community as an advocate for older adults and am part of several ministries at my church that keep me busy. Outside of that, I'm just a nerd. I love to read, and I love photography and modeling. I actually had the pleasure of traveling to Dubai at the end of last year and walked for fashion week there, which was really fun.
