Krystal Norman is a dedicated Special Education Advocate with over 16 years of experience supporting students from pre-K through adulthood. Her career began in general education, teaching 4th and 5th grade ELAR and social studies, before moving into roles that specialized in serving students with unique needs. She has worked as an Educational Enrichment Coordinator with the City of Austin and collaborated with specialized teams at McCallum High School to support severely aggressive autistic children. Her experience spans daycare centers, leadership roles at HIS Prep, and teaching a self-contained autistic classroom at Herod Elementary School, which became a district-wide training site for educators.

She actively attends IEP meetings, assists with eligibility assessments, organizes essential documentation, and ensures compliance with special education laws. Through workshops, informational sessions, and community collaboration, she equips parents and educators with the tools to foster student success.

Krystal is committed to creating inclusive educational environments where every student can thrive. Her approach emphasizes collaboration, advocacy, and clear communication, ensuring that students receive the support and services they deserve. Passionate about advancing special education practices, she continues to make a meaningful impact for students, families, and schools across Texas.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the incredible mentorship I received from Chris Dennings, Andrea, and Stacy. They provided unwavering support and guidance during my first challenging year as a teacher, helping me build a strong foundation and develop a model classroom. Their leadership and encouragement truly shaped the educator I am today.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are advocacy, mentorship, and family. I believe deeply in advocating for those who have no voice, ensuring every student receives the support they deserve. As a mentor, I take pride in helping teachers strengthen their practice by modeling effective, research-based strategies—especially those grounded in the TEACH model. Above all, family remains my foundation, motivating me to lead with empathy, patience, and purpose every day.
