Her Interview

Ten minutes with kudra

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to consistency, resilience, self-belief, and faith. I have learned not to give up, even when things look difficult or there is no clear way forward. I go after what I believe in even when afraid while also understanding that there are seasons when I need to become a student again, and I embrace those seasons because they often teach me the most. Being one of the first in my space meant there was no playbook to follow; I had to trust my instincts and build the path as I went. Faith keeps me grounded, helps me stay centered, and reminds me that even when things don’t work out as planned, I can always begin again.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to treat the business as if it were your own. That mindset helps you execute at 100% and build a strong reputation. When you take that level of ownership, you naturally become more intentional, accountable, and committed to delivering your best work. Another important lesson is the value of building strong customer relationships from the very beginning. Customer relationship management should start from day one. Remembering details about clients, understanding their needs, and making them feel genuinely valued can have a lasting impact on a business.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be intentional from the beginning, even when you are starting small. Treat what you are building as a real business, not simply a side project or a gig. Your professionalism, communication, Branding, and attention to detail shape how people perceive your business. I was very intentional about creating a strong luxury identity for my brand with high quality from the beginning, including the way we presented our packaging and customer experience. I remember wanting my clients to feel like they are unboxing Chanel, that level of intentionality helped establish NIZARLINE In the market.

Most importantly, don’t be afraid to take yourself seriously before everyone else does. Build with a long-term vision, learn continuously, and make decisions based on where you want to go not simply where you are today

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges include continuing to build strong brand awareness in the U.S. market after five years of operating here, while navigating the complexities of expanding into retail and developing the right physical presence. We have also increasingly explored runway shows, events, and other brand experiences as important ways to connect with our audience.

Operating across Kenya and the U.S. also comes with logistical challenges, including time-zone differences, international shipping, taxes, and coordinating inventory and production from our production facility in Kenya. At the same time, these challenges create opportunities. We see significant potential in growing our U.S. presence, particularly through strategic partnerships, retail, events, and targeted marketing around our new handbag launches. Experience working with established brands on Marketing, including Lancôme, has also given me a strong foundation for approaching growth strategically.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, integrity, intentionality, and excellence are important to me, both personally and professionally. I believe in being honest with clients and giving advice that genuinely serves them, rather than simply trying to make a sale. I value relationships that go beyond a single transaction and believe trust is something you build over time. In my work, I value attention to detail, consistency, accountability, and staying open to learning and growth., and the willingness to keep learning.
