About Kumkum

I have been in finance for over 20 years throughout my career. For the past 11 years, I am an entrepreneur with my own bookkeeping firm where I manage books for small to mid-size companies. As the owner of this company, I have a few staff working for me. My main area of expertise is managing the whole cycle of accounting, which includes preparing invoices, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, credit card reconciliation, general ledger reconciliation, month-end close, year-end close, quarterly close, tax reporting, sales tax filing, and all year-end requirements. When there is any audit, we conduct the audit and make sure that the books are all audit ready and pass the audit. I have a bachelor's degree that I finished in 1984, plus a couple of certifications including a year-long certification course in accounting.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I am a strong believer in that when you fall down, you continue your efforts and believe in yourself, continue with your hard work. Because once you fall down, it's for sure that if you continue with hard work, you will come up much stronger. That's what happened with me. I had one time some family issues, and my career got a little bit disrupted, but when I came up, I came up shining bright. I stood up stronger than I was before, and I really feel that that was a good learning curve for me.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Believe in yourself. Follow your dream, follow your passion. And dedicate yourself to your goals.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge right now is that AI has become a little challenge because that's impacting a lot of work. So the challenge is to keep yourself up-to-date with technology, with new technologies, and I need to adapt to the new technology, learn it, and become part of the new era.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Loyalty, dedication, and hard work.
