Her Story
About Kyanna
After being laid off from my position in public accounting, I was devastated and shocked. I had been told my entire collegiate career that accounting was one of those professions that everyone's going to need, providing security. But I realized I didn't need to have all this experience to start my own company. I could be starting now, because if I waited to start, I'd basically be dying to live, just waiting around. That's not being proactive, and that's not really working toward the dreams that I have. I understand that the dreams and things that I have are not just about me. There's a responsibility tied to it, because I desire to drive impact in people's lives. I'm very fortunate to have a fiance who feels the same way. Now my fiance and I have a health and wellness business that is solution-oriented when it comes to building relationships. I focus on internal and external beauty, dealing with skincare routines, makeup, and vitamins and supplements that leave your body feeling great and looking great. We offer hair, skin, and nail pills with biotin, vitamin C, multivitamins for men and women, and vitamin B. All of our products are seen from the field and the farms to the lab, where everything is organically orchestrated. We're big on source transparency. My fiance focuses on sports nutrition with plant-based protein powders and home care like water and air purification systems. We're also working into the longevity space. We're very blessed and grateful to be able to be in a position to help other people, and our company is based on building those relationships, whether it's on a partnership side with other businesses or with individuals who are looking for opportunity or looking for solutions.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being proactive and not waiting around for the perfect moment. When I got laid off, I realized I didn't need all this experience to start my own company. I could be starting now, because if I waited to start, I'd basically be dying to live, just waiting around. That's not being proactive, and that's not really working toward the dreams that I have. I understand that the dreams and things I have are not just about me. There's a responsibility tied to it, because I desire to drive impact in people's lives. I'm very fortunate to have a fiance who feels the same way. I also believe success comes from understanding that tough times aren't meant to deter you, they're meant to define you and to build your character. It's about being smart, learning from wealthy people and other business owners, understanding what they're thinking, what they're saying, what they're reading and listening to. And it's about understanding that you have a responsibility for those who come after you.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've received came from our head partner who taught us that you can definitely build a great life for yourself and still be healthy without having to incur all the debt and costs that come with a traditional business. You just have to be smart about it. He showed us that businesses often don't take off the way they want or should because people are struggling in their personal relationships and their finances. Robert Kiyosaki says that it takes 5 years for a business to either succeed or fail, and many businesses don't make it in those first 5 years, especially with the traditional business model. But you can build something great if you're smart about it and address those personal and financial struggles.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values to me are driving impact in people's lives and understanding that my dreams are not just about me. There's a responsibility tied to it. I'm very fortunate to have a fiance who feels the same way. I want to live longer and avoid the illnesses and ailments that have run in my family for a few generations. I want to make sure that our kids, when they come, have a good chance to live a long life too, and whatever measures we have to take to ensure that's the case, that's something we will continuously work towards and educate them on. I also value building relationships and helping people, whether it's on a partnership side with other businesses or with individuals who are looking for opportunity or looking for solutions. I believe in understanding that you have a responsibility for those who come after you. It's about building Empire when you find people who are willing to work on themselves and understand that they have a responsibility for those who come after them.
