Her prior experience at the company includes five years in hydrogen production and two and a half years in green ammonia, where she led an engineering team to standardize the design of large ammonia storage facilities while collaborating with European regulators on new safety standards. Dewey holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Lafayette College, which she completed in 2018 with a minor in Religious Studies. She is a member of the Compressed Gas Association. Dewey attributes her success to strong family guidance and an internal drive to persevere through challenges. She advises young women entering the field to raise their hand for every opportunity and step outside their comfort zone.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kyla

01What do you attribute your success to?

I definitely had great guidance from family growing up, that really pushed me to do more than I ever thought I could. And just having the internal drive to keep going, even when it gets tough.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

When you're interviewing for a position that you really want, to be very upfront with the interviewers that if you would be offered this position that you would accept, because it's your top choice. And that's always worked out in my favor, because managers want to know that they're getting someone that wants to work for them too.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Raise your hand for everything. Don't be afraid to go outside of your comfort zone. And the more you take on, the more opportunities will be afforded to you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Some of the biggest challenges in any renewable energy today are political landscapes and regulatory landscapes that can really make or break project economics. But we have so much room for growth. There's a ton of biomass out there just waiting to be turned into renewable natural gas, and it's a really great domestic energy resource.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Definitely being honest and transparent in work and personal life. And I think most of my friends and family would call me very reliable, so that would be another one.
