About Kylie

Kylie Rawn is a broker in commercial real estate at Cushman and Wakefield in Los Angeles, California. She entered the field after being laid off from a previous job during COVID and was introduced to the industry through a family friend connected to a mentor and senior partner at the firm. Over the past five years, Rawn has built her career with the guidance of great mentors and colleagues, earning recognition as the Next Gen Woman of the Year. She attributes her success to sponsorship, earning trust from peers, and the small moments of integrity that build a reputation. Rawn is passionate about making successful women in commercial real estate the expectation rather than the exception, and she volunteers with the YMCA Ketchum in downtown Los Angeles to sponsor programs for kids.

Ten minutes with Kylie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would attribute my success to having great mentors and great colleagues who have allowed me to grow. Sponsorship matters, advocating for people when they're not in the room, and earning trust from peers. A career is built in small moments that don't make it onto the resume - how you respond when something goes wrong, whether you follow through when no one's checking, and how you treat people who can't do anything for you.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't wait till you feel completely ready. Some of the biggest opportunities came before I felt fully prepared. You don't need to know everything to deserve to be in the room - just be willing to learn, ask questions, do the work, and show up. Competence creates a different kind of confidence. Know your business, be prepared, follow through, become someone that people can rely on, make yourself invaluable, and that creates credibility.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

It's a male-dominated industry. A lot of the time women feel they have to be one of the boys to find a place for themselves. But you don't need to be more like the men around you. Get comfortable being uncomfortable by handling new situations, learning something new, or going through hard things. Eventually you'll trust yourself and people will respect you as you respect yourself.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Give it your all but don't lose yourself in the process. You can find a way forward without sacrificing your values or morals. If you stay true to those things and continue to push, that will always outweigh everything else. Real authenticity is what sets people apart.
