Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kymara

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a strong combination of hands-on industry experience, dedication to quality and safety, and a deep commitment to serving my community. Beginning my career in food service allowed me to build a solid foundation in kitchen operations, customer relations, and compliance with health and safety standards. These early experiences shaped my work ethic and attention to detail.

My entrepreneurial success is also rooted in my passion for combining culinary creativity with nutrition education. By focusing on fresh, wholesome meals and maintaining high operational standards, I was able to build trust, loyalty, and a strong reputation for integrity and quality.

Above all, my success comes from a willingness to lead with purpose—continuously learning, advocating for healthier eating, sharing best practices, and staying committed to excellence in every aspect of my work.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was to never give up on your dreams, even when the journey becomes challenging or uncertain. I was taught that setbacks are not signs to stop, but opportunities to learn, grow, and strengthen your purpose. Staying committed to your vision, continuing to develop your skills, and believing in the value of your work—especially when it serves others—can carry you through difficult moments.

That advice taught me the importance of perseverance, consistency, and faith in the process. By holding onto my dreams and staying focused on quality, integrity, and growth, I learned that long-term success comes not from giving up when things get hard, but from continuing to move forward with determination and confidence.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise a young lady to believe in herself and never give up on her dreams, even when the path feels difficult or uncertain. Trust your abilities, stay true to your values, and don’t let setbacks or the opinions of others define your potential. Challenges will come, but they are opportunities to learn, grow, and become stronger.

I would also encourage her to work hard, stay curious, and continue learning—both from successes and mistakes. Surround yourself with positive influences, ask for guidance when needed, and don’t be afraid to step into leadership roles. Most importantly, remember that your voice matters, your goals are valid, and with persistence, confidence, and integrity, you can build a future that reflects your purpose and passion.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the food industry right now is navigating a space that has historically been—and in many areas continues to be—male-driven, particularly in leadership, operations, and decision-making roles. As a woman in this field, gaining equal visibility, credibility, and access to opportunities often requires working harder to be heard and recognized, especially in areas such as business ownership, food safety leadership, and operations management.

At the same time, this challenge presents a powerful opportunity. The industry is evolving, and there is growing recognition of the value women bring through innovation, collaboration, and community-centered leadership. There is also increasing demand for food safety expertise, nutrition education, and transparent, high-quality food practices—areas where strong leadership and attention to detail are essential.

For me, the opportunity lies in continuing to lead by example: breaking barriers, advocating for higher standards, mentoring other women, and creating space for more diverse voices in food entrepreneurship and food safety. By staying committed to excellence, integrity, and community health, I see the current challenges not as limitations, but as catalysts for meaningful change and growth within the industry.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to my work and personal life are integrity, perseverance, education, and service. I believe deeply that food is medicine, and that access to safe, nutritious, and thoughtfully prepared food has the power to improve health, strengthen communities, and transform lives. This belief guides every decision I make, both professionally and personally.

Integrity is central to my work—maintaining high food safety standards, operating with honesty, and delivering quality people can trust. Education is equally important to me. I am passionate about sharing knowledge, whether through nutrition education, food safety best practices, or mentoring others, because informed choices lead to healthier outcomes.

Perseverance shapes how I approach challenges. Building a career and business in the food industry requires resilience, especially as a woman in a male-driven field, and I remain committed to my purpose even when obstacles arise. Finally, service and community health are at the heart of my values. My goal is not just to provide food, but to educate, empower, and inspire others to see food as a tool for healing, prevention, and long-term well-being.
