About Lacey
I've had what I would say is a second and third act in my career. I started as a chemist for about 5 years right out of college, working with a lot of detail and precision, getting my feet wet. I learned that I really loved the field of chemistry, but I wanted to do more with it. My excitement around chemistry was built in being able to share with others how to learn chemistry, and I understood that I could teach it well. One of my gifts is that I can take the complexity of chemistry and break it down into clarity, and that's been my field with teaching as well as assessment development. I taught chemistry at the high school level for 25 years, and I also taught physics. I taught 3 different college-level chemistries and was an adjunct professor for Indiana University for around 10 years teaching chemistry. I've always been a teacher of not just students in my classroom - I've taught at the teacher level, I've taught other teachers, I've taught school-wide, I've taught district-wide, and now I get to do university-wide. For the past 3 years, I've been an assessment developer at WGU, currently working with the nursing program where we're redeveloping all the programs in the pre-licensure program. I love it because it still works at all these different areas that I like - empowering others with leadership, using my love of tech, developing assessment, and making things as clear and accessible as possible. I get to work with course instructors and subject matter experts to make sure everything works for our stakeholders, our evaluators and course instructors, and for all of our students as well.
