Her Story
About Lacey
I've been working in customer service and hospitality for over 10 years - honestly, my whole life, since my first job was in that field. For the past 4 years, I've been an event sales manager, and I absolutely love it. It's high energy, it's fun, and I get to go into work every day and be creative and inspiring, taking on a new level of hospitality each day. My main area of expertise is events and hospitality, getting to know your customer and being able to work with them, with a little bit of sales tossed in. During the week, I'm all corporate, working with some really cool, big, name-brand clients who come in for team-building exercises and client resources. On weekends, I do a lot of family events - it's very much social hospitality where I'm working to build memories through family reunions and birthday parties. Right now, my favorite type of events are children's birthday parties. When you think back to when you were a child, having that birthday party with your friends and family all gathered around you, I love being able to recreate that moment on an almost daily basis and see the light in the eyes of little children. Before this role, I was a client trainer, which was an awesome position where I got to work with companies and help their people get adjusted into systems they truly liked, handling ticket sales and working with different state fairs and venue houses. I got to go all over the states, look at different venues and perspectives, and meet some awesome people along the way.

Ten minutes with Lacey
01What do you attribute your success to?
Believe it or not, it is family. I have an amazing support system. I have somebody who's ready to stand behind me through and through. I have an amazing partner. I have an amazing sister, who is my absolute rock in life. Without them, I wouldn't have half the courage that I typically do.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself. That's gonna be something that is gonna be throughout life. If you have a gut feeling, go with it. More often than not, anytime I've been in a room and somebody said, hey, you just need to sit down and be quiet and take it on the chin, I've probably stood against that, because absolutely not.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Without a doubt, trying to grow up and climb within a company as a woman has its ups and downs, because you're overlooked. Being within your mid-30s, you're being looked at as though, well, where are you at with your personal life? And those types of questions - men are not getting those types of responses, too. I watch it every day. It's just something that I wish I could kind of put my foot down and be like, this is my plan, these are my goals, this is what I'm trying to execute, and you have to take my word for it. That's something that women have to do more often than men.
