Her Story

About Lacy

Lacy Hasbrook is a licensed real estate broker based in Texas who became active in the field in 2009. She began her professional journey in sales with cellular companies, transitioned into business sales, and then moved into mortgage before obtaining her real estate license during the housing crisis. With a strong sales and mortgage background, she built a referral-based business and later established her own brokerage, Prominent Properties, specializing in luxury real estate. She is proud of earning her brokerage license early in her career while rules were still flexible. Currently, she works with HUD properties in a role focused on listings and client calls, and she is affiliated with Bang Realty. As a Realtor, Hasbrook emphasizes integrity in all dealings, attributing her success to the moral compass instilled by her parents. She advises aspiring professionals, especially young women, to prioritize training, education, and hands-on experience over initial commission splits when starting their careers.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lacy

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success comes from my parents and watching their careers and behaviors. They instilled a strong moral compass in me. After my father passed, I kept a compass he had with an engraving thanking him for showing me the way home, and I passed a similar one to my son. This represents the guidance and values that have shaped my path.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Integrity is the best advice I've received. Even when it's hard to be honest, it's important because your word is everything and it follows you. In this business, referrals and reputation are everything, not just with clients but with colleagues too. After 16, 17, 18 years, that reputation means everything.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Put value on the beginning of your career. Do not base decisions on commission splits or what goes in your pocket early on. Value training, hands-on experience, education, and the support the broker provides. Look at the whole picture because what you put in at the start sets the stage for your success. Treat it like a career, get up early and work every day. It takes a few years to build, but it's worth it. I started with large companies and brokerages for the built-in training even if splits were smaller, and that value paid back.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is that many people think real estate is easy and get into it part-time or are drawn by commission numbers without understanding the work involved or what agents actually receive. This muddies the waters and affects consumer experience. There's an influx of agents not treating it as a true career or providing proper service. The opportunity is to be really good, make a lasting impression on buyers and sellers, provide true fiduciary duty, educate clients throughout the process, communicate everything you're doing, and not hide your hard work.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity is most important. Even if it's hard, being honest matters because your word and reputation follow you. Doing the hard thing isn't always easy but it's important, like walking away from a deal when needed. My parents' example of a moral compass guides me in both work and life.
