Her Interview
Ten minutes with LaKiesha
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my Heavenly Father, God, and Jesus Christ. It was all divinely orchestrated, and these were divine moments in my life. I am a big woman of faith, and without God and Jesus, I would not be where I am at.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received is that it's not just about the leader in the room. It's the people behind the leader that also makes the leader better. Everyone collectively and cohesively is what makes the impact.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do not limit yourself by titles or education. Strive to be in positions that align with your passion and heart, not tied to money, but to things that are going to be fulfilling for you in life. Don't waste your time on things that are not of importance, but run after the things that bring you joy, love, and unity.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Having an organization that walks the walk and not just talks the talk. Having love, caring, and compassion for others. Respect, leading with integrity and honesty. Family, supporting families, valuing individuals, having flexibility, opportunities for growth and learning, being human-centered, standing up for and advocating for fairness, equity, and equality.
