About Lakisha
Lakisha Hyatt serves as Chief Executive Officer of the largest public-funded psychiatric and substance use hospital in Connecticut, located in Windsor. She assumed the role in September 2020 following her interim appointment in July 2019. With nearly three decades in healthcare, Hyatt has progressed through multiple leadership positions, including chief nursing executive, Hospital Manager's Division Director for Behavioral Health, and Director of Health and Clinical Services for the Department of Developmental Services. A registered nurse by training with advanced practice experience and a graduate degree from Yale, she also holds credentials as a licensed minister. Her leadership emphasizes person-centered, recovery-oriented care, regulatory compliance, and investment in staff development amid high demand for mental health services. Beyond her professional duties, Hyatt engages in community service through her local faith organization, mentors young people, supports Rotary scholarship efforts, and invests in early childhood education initiatives. She attributes her success to faith and the intentional building of authentic community connections.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Faith and community are big parts of what I do. Faith is what I rely on, and community means family, friends, and authentic connections that I intentionally build.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You are enough. Pay attention to the messages you speak to yourself. Encourage yourself with the strength that you possess. And take your shot. Always take your shot.
