About Lakshmi
I was born and grew up in India, and my career started in 2017. I was a university gold medalist and a college topper at my bachelor's in computer science and engineering, and then I got an offer from one of my companies I used to work for before, called Car Technologies, where I was the only person selected from my college. I started my career there as a technical consultant in SAP and grew with all my expertise in technical for the specific area of domain in real estate. I became a functional consultant and learned the module and its integrations with finance, project systems, CS, and several other systems, as well as set accounting. From there, I grew and became a team lead, and then I became a workstream lead, handling the whole industrial line of real estate for different sectors like oil and gas, retail business, and many others. I came to the United States for work and had to shift my job. Now I'm working for a retail company called Publix, where I am a lead software engineer trying to deliver and lead one of the greatest real estate software solutions which we're building from scratch. My father is a landlord back in India with a lot of houses that we rent to tenants, and I was brought up from childhood with a keen understanding of how rent, leasing, and handling tenants works. I always wanted to build my own software for it, and that was my goal or aim. I'm still working on it, and someday I might come out with some brand new software. That was the key goal that got me into the real estate industry to understand more about how real estate works and what the legal litigations are for different countries.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've received is that professionalism doesn't come always by work, it's about people. It's more than the work, it's about the people around us. It's about handling the people who are working around us. That has been really helpful for me. Once I understood that it's not about the work, and it's about how you handle your people, that made a change.
