Her Story

About Lama

Lama Masri is a MediaTech entrepreneur with a career spanning content distribution, technology startups, and podcasting. Her first company secured rights for Warner Brothers and HBO content in the MENA region, distributing IP across airlines, TV stations, cinemas, and telecommunication platforms. Following the exit of a tech startup, she transitioned into podcasting seven years ago and currently hosts Unicorn Balarity, the leading entrepreneurship podcast in the Middle East. She is now building and scaling her fifth startup, a US SaaS product, with plans to exit within five years. Masri previously founded two NGOs: Refugees on Rails in Germany, which taught refugees coding skills, and Beituna in Lebanon, which supported female-headed households by renovating basic infrastructure needs. She attributes her success to self-confidence, grit, and her ability to build zero-to-one companies, while emphasizing values of respect, humility, and curiosity in her work.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lama

01What do you attribute your success to?

Honestly, it's having grip. I'm believing in myself, so I have quite a lot of self-confidence, and I don't shy away to say it, and definitely I have grit, so I value where I am, and I'm hungry for more. I know my superpower like building zero-to-one companies, so know what you're good at.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Up the noise and focus. Oh, and then trust your guts. So, I think there's a lot of noise of people trying to maybe either push you down or distract you, but a lot of the times, it's just put your head down and focus and you'll get it. Don't trust so easily, and don't wait to prove something to ask for your rights. You know your value and demand your place on the table louder.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I think respect. Being humble. And staying curious.
