About Lana

Lana Borysov is an accomplished property management professional whose career has been defined by determination, leadership, and a passion for helping people thrive within their communities. Currently serving as an Assistant Property Manager with Axial Living, Lana brings a unique blend of operational expertise, resident engagement, and strategic problem-solving to every property she supports. Her work focuses on strengthening community performance, improving resident satisfaction, and driving measurable results through effective leasing, financial oversight, marketing initiatives, and relationship building. Known for her adaptability, professionalism, and strong work ethic, she has built a reputation for transforming challenges into opportunities and creating environments where both residents and properties can succeed.

Lana’s journey into property management began long before her professional career. At just 16 years old, she started working as a housekeeper in a nursing home, where she developed a deep appreciation for service and helping others. That passion was further strengthened through five years of nonprofit work, shaping the people-first approach that continues to guide her leadership style today. Refusing to let traditional barriers define her path, Lana built her career through perseverance, initiative, and a commitment to continuous growth. She gained valuable hands-on maintenance experience while helping build her family’s five-bedroom home on 52 acres, contributing to flooring, drywall, repairs, and a variety of construction projects. At 18, she began assisting a local property owner in managing nine independent properties, utilizing her graphic design background, market research skills, and attention to detail to enhance property appeal and resident experiences. By gathering feedback directly from residents and students, she helped implement improvements that increased both community engagement and property competitiveness.

Throughout her career, Lana has developed extensive expertise in residential leasing, property operations, administration, marketing, and community development. Prior to her current role, she served as a Senior Leasing Agent, Assistant Property Manager, Office Manager, and Marketing Representative, building a well-rounded foundation in business operations, customer service, team leadership, and strategic communication. Today, she supports multiple communities by analyzing key performance indicators, improving delinquency and renewal rates, strengthening property branding, and increasing resident engagement through innovative marketing initiatives and community events. Her responsibilities include managing property tours, monitoring lead generation, processing applications, coordinating maintenance follow-up, conducting inspections, overseeing lease renewals, and ensuring operational excellence across all aspects of property performance. Having managed and supported communities with more than 500 units, Lana combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, making her a trusted professional dedicated to building stronger communities and delivering exceptional results.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lana

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to having a purpose that is greater than myself. That purpose has guided my career, pushing me to grow, overcome challenges, and focus on making a meaningful impact. As someone who immigrated to the United States and found faith early in life, I developed a resilient, purpose-driven mindset that helped me move beyond limitations and expectations. My experience in nonprofit work strengthened my passion for helping others, while my work ethic and confidence have allowed me to demonstrate my value and contribute effectively in every role. Ultimately, my success comes from faith, perseverance, and a commitment to creating positive impact in the work I do.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that you can build a successful career while also making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. That perspective helped me realize that achievement and service are not separate paths, but can work together. As a devoted Christian, I’ve learned to lead with purpose, integrity, and compassion, and to view every role as an opportunity to serve, uplift, and inspire others while continuing to grow professionally.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is that you can succeed by staying true to your values and doing what is right, even when it feels countercultural. Integrity, professionalism, and consistency will always set you apart more than trying to fit a certain mold. You don’t have to compromise your beliefs or identity to be taken seriously or to excel you can lead with confidence, work ethic, and respect for yourself and others while still achieving strong results. I’ve learned that being grounded in who you are and holding yourself to high standards builds long-term respect and opens doors that shortcuts never will.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in property management right now include balancing rising operational costs, maintenance demands, and evolving resident expectations while still maintaining strong community performance and retention. There is also a growing need for consistency in staffing, communication, and efficient systems to keep properties running smoothly and competitively. At the same time, these challenges create meaningful opportunities to innovate through data-driven decision-making, improved marketing strategies, and stronger resident engagement. I see a lot of potential in using KPIs more intentionally to guide improvements in delinquency, renewals, and overall community appeal, while also leveraging technology and creative outreach to enhance the resident experience and build stronger, more connected communities.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important value to me is living with a purpose greater than myself and using my platform to help and inspire others. As a devoted Christian, my faith guides everything I do and fuels my commitment to serve people with integrity, compassion, and intention. I believe success is not just about professional achievement, but about creating meaningful impact helping individuals find not only a place to live, but a true sense of community and home. I am also passionate about representing women in a more authentic and empowering way, challenging outdated perceptions and leading with strength, professionalism, and grace. In my personal life, I am currently navigating a deeply challenging family situation that has further strengthened my resilience and inspired me to advocate for families and others facing similar struggles. Overall, my values are rooted in faith, perseverance, advocacy, and a commitment to lifting others while continuing to grow as a leader and individual.
