Her Interview
Ten minutes with Laquasia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being proactive in seeking out information and trainings, taking initiative to learn new skills like AI, and giving back by sharing knowledge with my community through my organization. I'm the first in my family to pursue higher education and put myself through school to help others who lack access to this information.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't get stuck doing one thing or focusing only on a job title; focus on skills you obtain. You are a leader no matter your position or level.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
There will always be imposter syndrome but know that you belong in tech. You have a purpose and are here to provide for others. Don't give up even when you don't see people who look like you in these spaces.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Biggest opportunity is around AI as a hot topic - learning skills and sharing with the next generation to close gaps in digital literacy and education skills. Challenge is figuring out how to reach people through trainings, workshops, and community outreach to make the right connections.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, honesty, and maintaining a positive culture and positive mindset. We are all there to make a difference.
