Her Story

About Larvetta

Larvetta L. Loftin-Arnold is an accomplished marketing strategist, communications leader, and entrepreneur with more than 30 years of experience helping organizations build meaningful connections with diverse audiences. After gaining extensive experience at several advertising agencies, where she developed multicultural marketing campaigns for globally recognized brands including McDonald's, Toyota, General Motors, Verizon, and leading companies in the automotive and beverage industries, she founded The L3 Agency in April 2000. Her vision was to create a firm that combines strategic insight, authentic storytelling, and community engagement to drive measurable business and social impact.

Under Larvetta's leadership, The L3 Agency evolved from an experiential marketing company specializing in large-scale activations, film screenings, and cultural festivals into a respected strategy and thought leadership agency. The firm secured Verizon as its first agency of record for the Midwest, managing the partnership for five years. Since 2019, The L3 Agency has become a recognized leader in the utility and energy sector, providing strategic community outreach and public relations services throughout Chicago and the North Shore. As the only woman-led, minority-owned agency serving this niche in the region, Larvetta continues to champion inclusive communications that strengthen relationships between organizations and the communities they serve.

Beyond her agency work, Larvetta is a passionate advocate for entrepreneurship and storytelling. She is the creator and host of the award-winning Black Businesses Matter Podcast, which has produced more than 140 episodes and has been recognized among the Top 10 podcasts for Black entrepreneurship. Through her work as a marketing consultant, thought leader, and podcast host, she empowers business owners, executives, and organizations to build authentic brands, elevate diverse voices, and create lasting impact through purposeful marketing and community-centered leadership.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to hard work, perseverance, and taking the time to build my business the right way. By focusing on sustainable growth, maintaining high standards, and consistently putting my clients first, I've been able to create a strong foundation for long-term success.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is, "If you're the smartest person in the room, it's time to find a new room." It reminds me to continually seek opportunities to learn, grow, and surround myself with people who challenge and inspire me. I've also learned that community isn't just about where you live—it's about how you live, the relationships you build, and the impact you make on others.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to be a lifelong learner. Stay curious, embrace every opportunity to grow, and never stop investing in your personal and professional development. At the same time, remember to take time to smell the roses—success is most meaningful when you take the time to appreciate the journey along the way.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is keeping pace with rapidly evolving technology. The constant changes require continuous learning, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace new tools and innovations. At the same time, those who stay current and leverage technology effectively have tremendous opportunities to grow, improve efficiency, and better serve their clients.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me, both professionally and personally, are honesty and integrity. I believe in doing the right thing, being transparent, and building trust through my actions. These principles guide my decisions, strengthen my relationships, and serve as the foundation for lasting success.
