Her Story
About Laryssa
I began my professional journey as a journalist in Brazil, but my life took a new direction when I met my husband and moved to the United States. I started working in department stores, and within about three years, I transitioned into the luxury sector of retail. I was fortunate to work for Louis Vuitton, and because of my background and ability to speak three languages, they sent me to Brazil for a special assignment that lasted seven months. I worked mostly with Louis Vuitton in Chicago, and my strong performance earned me the opportunity to transfer to Miami, which had always been my dream. I then worked for Givenchy and later transitioned to Gucci, where I spent five years progressing from store director to operations before moving into training. Now I'm with Tag Heuer, which is also part of the LVMH group, and I've been with them for almost two years. In the watch world, which is mostly led by men, I'm proud that we just promoted our CEO who is a woman. As Training Manager for the Americas, my team of three training managers, one director, and myself cover over 630 doors throughout the Americas, from Alaska all the way to Chile. My expertise covers every single part of retail, including training, coaching, product knowledge, luxury retail, elevating the sales ceremony, operations, and store openings. I've opened stores in Brazil for Tag Heuer, opened the Soho location for Gucci, and worked on the Design District with Gucci.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I believe that if you work hard and have a passion for what you do, you can grow and achieve anything you want. As a Brazilian, as a Latin woman, and as a woman working in such a male-led industry, I love to broadcast and show people that starting at the beginning of retail in a department store, you can make it to where I am today. I hear so much when I go to stores, 'Oh, I would love to do your job,' but I think people don't really understand that it wasn't very easy to get where I got. There was a lot of hard work, including days of doing inventory and walking in the snow in Chicago, before I made it to where I'm at right now.
