Her Interview

Ten minutes with LaShanda

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my ability to learn quickly and my willingness to learn. I've always been the type of person who wants to learn what everyone is doing so I know how long it takes and what it takes to get things done. I like to learn something new every day, whether it's small or big.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

As far as leadership, I would say be the manager that you've always wanted. That's what I did. I made sure that I was empathetic with my team. Of course, we had goals to meet, so I would be stern, but you also have to be understanding and be the manager that you wanted when you were under someone else.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity and honesty are very important to me. Honesty because as long as you're honest with me, I can help you. If you don't have integrity in the finance industry, things can go left very quickly because you're dealing with money and other people's finances. You have to be honest with yourself, with others such as your coworkers and customers.
