Her Story

About Lashandra

Lashandra Eison serves as Program Director of her affordable housing business, which she founded two years ago in 2022 to address housing barriers in Chicago by offering shared independent living options. She manages daily operations including property checks, resident move-ins, agency outreach, and expansion efforts. Eison also works part-time in healthcare as a coordinator, leveraging her teletech certification to monitor cardiac telemetry. She earned her Master's in Business Administration in 2024 and Bachelor's in Business Administration with Technologies and Management in 2023 from American Intercontinental University. Previously, she was Senior Operations Manager at a rental car company and supported high-risk patients in hospital environments. She maintains partnerships with hospitals such as St. Bernard Hospital and Provident Hospital for referrals. Eison attributes her success to her own determination and her children, particularly her daughter as motivation to pursue education and entrepreneurship while parenting. She advises young women entering the field to have passion for helping others, run their business independently, and believe all goals are achievable with focus. Her values center on logical thinking, self-respect, and an army-bound mindset instilled by her father.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lashandra

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to myself and to my children. My daughter was a big pedestal for me to push myself and show that no matter what life throws at you, you can achieve your goals. I did it to prove that even with kids, you can keep yourself on track and achieve your master's and business goals.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Have the passion to help people. Have the drive to run your business the way you want to run it, and don't let no one else step in and try to tell you how to run your business. Know that all things are possible if you put your mind to it.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is making sure you screen the right candidates and verifiable income, especially with the current economy making it hard to find work. The biggest opportunity is the shared living aspect, creating housing programs that make a difference and getting accredited through hospital connections.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Morally, I like to call myself a decent person who thinks logically about pros and cons in any situation. I grew up with an army-bound mindset from my father and strive to always be true to yourself, understand who you are, and speak up for yourself. This self-respect helps others respect you in business and personal life.
