Her international work includes partnerships in Ghana with the Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Services, and the Ghana Tourism Authority, with a pending partnership with the YMCA of Ghana. Rogers attributes her success to lessons learned from her grandmother's gardening, which she applies through her Rooted Fridays podcast series, emphasizing integrity, trust, respect, and keeping God first in both her professional and personal life.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Latangela
01What do you attribute your success to?
My grandmother. She was a gardener and I learned life lessons from her gardening. I opened a podcast series called Rooted Fridays applying those principles to life, how your heart is like a garden that needs to be tilled with good soil to produce good fruit.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't give up. Keep going in the times where there's storms brewing. That's the time that you're being prepared for something greater. Always stay consistent and present, focus on the present and not what is going to be happening the next day or the next year.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Perseverance. Especially if you're pursuing any type of executive role or owning your own business, you are going to have a lot more failures than successes. But don't look at it like failures, look at it as life lessons that help prepare you for what you're building or how you're leading.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
AI is both the biggest challenge and opportunity. It may impact 95,000 jobs in California but also opens new industries requiring AI skills. We need to implement workshops and tools to train people, especially seniors, to stay ahead of rapid changes.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is the foundation and a root everyone should have, along with trust and respect. Keep God first for spiritual balance. Love is the greatest gift; show respect and honor for humankind even if not reciprocated.
